The physicist Ján Dusza – Denník N became an exceptional personality of Slovak science

Physicist Ján Dusza received the main award Outstanding Personality of Slovak Science at the ESET Science Award. The award winners were selected by an international commission chaired by Nobel Prize-winning physicist Kip Thorne.

Ladislav Valkovič became the winner of the Outstanding Young Scientist under 35 category, and Jozef Zajac received the award in the Outstanding University Teacher category.

The chairman of the international commission, Kip Thorne, who presented awards in two main categories, praised the world-class level of Slovak scientists after the final meeting of the commission: “The selection of laureates was extremely challenging this year as well. This confirms that science in Slovakia has an international quality. However, large scientific projects require not only excellent science, but also the support of public and private institutions, and therefore I wish the finalists to find such support for their research. The ESET Science Award is an important example of such support. “

The laureate was also chosen by the public through online voting. Biochemist Katarína Mikušová became her. The researcher is engaged in research into the bacillus that causes tuberculosis at the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science, Charles University.
