Fashion LIVE! started his three-day fashion marathon on the Nivas. The theme of sustainability resonated in the collections – zoznam.sk

The fashion event, to which the designers and organizers devoted months of preparation and attention, is here again after a one-year pandemic break. On Friday, a three-day event started at Niva, which brings the work of Slovak established creators or brands, as well as young talented designers.

Focusing on new talent and new names, he launched a series of shows on Fashion LIVE on the first day! a lively and varied selection of designers from Atelier 343, VŠVU students composed of: Juliána Brnáková, Michaela Turanská, Ivana Janigová, Natália Repkovská, Alexandra Kondačová and Mária Štvrtecká.

In their collections, students respond to cultural and social events, but especially to the topic of sustainability, which is very current in the fashion industry. For example, in her collection The CHANCE, Juliána Brnáková literally gives a chance to textile waste that would no longer be used in the clothing space. In the MY LIFE collection, Michaela Turanská relies on important moments and periods in a woman’s life. Designers Ivana Janigová, Natália Repkovská, Alexandra Kondačová and Mária Štvrtecká examine the process of creation itself, thinking about the loss original identity, which “disappears in a dozen dull crowds”, or deals with satire for today and its values ​​and examines the way of dressing the Z generation.

Ivana Janigová from Atelier 343 when asked what it means for her to participate in the Fashion LIVE! answers: “Opportunity to participate in the Fashion LIVE! within Atelier 343 means for me a great opportunity for professional presentation of the work of beginning designers, who unfortunately still do not have enough similar possibilities in the Slovak environment. For me personally, student work is often the most visually appealing, as it is more of an experiment than a perfectly technically developed product. I am very pleased to have at least one event where the public can regularly see not only well-established designers, but also new approaches to creation. ”

The fashion show continued with a show of the Mariná brand. She is backed by Marina Žiaková, who started studying clothing design only later. Her ERNA collection carries the message of sculptural art. It is inspired by monumental large-scale works and smaller sculptures by Slovak sculptor Erna Masarovičová. The collection includes outfits of textile materials, which once waited for processing by the sculptor himself. The ERNA collection uses natural materials such as raw silk, leather and others, which made it possible to create a kind of clothing sculpture while maintaining the minimalist design characteristic of the MARINÁ brand. Most models in the collection are created without waste – from a single piece of fabric or leather, without the intervention of scissors.

Also Silvia Zrebná, for whom, as he says, Fashion LIVE! returning to the world of fashion, design and handicrafts, Necessity responds to sustainability in its collection. It is based on original quality models, which are complemented by second-hand pieces. The individual components of the outfits can be combined with each other, thus forming the basis of the capsule wardrobe. She also collaborated on the collection with visual artist Zuzana Svatik, who created parodic illustrations that were applied to some models in the form of embroidery.

Young talented designer Terézia Feňovčíková designs her models under the freier brand and at the Fashion LIVE! he is no newcomer. This time, she transformed her personal fascination with filmmaking into a prodigious collection, which proclaims a return to film and literary icons, namely the story of Frankenstein and his monster.

Friday night closed with a show by Petra Weingart, who is returning to her roots in her collection THE ROOTS. The collection, based on light elegance and the principles of men’s tailoring, is based on classic clothing forms. The collection contains many universal pieces that are timeless and combinable. The absence of trendiness provides unlimited potential and each individual piece is perfect as the basis of a capsule wardrobe, which, like the collections of other designers, applies the principles of sustainability.
