Clothing sculptures, tender monsters, sexy asymmetry or sustainability! See the fashion from Zrebna or Freier – ŽENA.PRAVDA.SK

Three-day fashion marathon Fashion LIVE! on friday it brought a variety of high-quality home fashion to the general public. Despite the capacity limitations, the premises in the new Bratislava center could accommodate several hundred spectators and were able to see several authorial approaches within the design work.

The organizers dedicated the very first slot to students from Atelier 343 at the Bratislava VŠVU, who were able to present their master’s or bachelor’s collections on such a live platform. They surprised really pleasantly – whether in many cases at the sight of precise tailoring and craftsmanship of the material, the effort to innovate it, but also interesting ideas and concepts.

The theme of this year’s Fashion LIVE !, for which the organizers chose the silhouette, was mainly the work Michaela Turanská or Natálie Repkovská, who played with a female silhouette on the border of proven cuts evoking the couture of the creation of bygone times, a historical approach and their fusion with modern material processing. The material has become one of the distinctive elements of the individual mini-collections. For example, u Juliány Brnáková individual garments were created using residual material or substances that would not normally be used by the creators. She fused them into lovely cuts and seemingly attractive women’s clothing. U Márie Štvrteckej interested in the processing of the material and the search for an original clothing identity. She then presented deconstructive elements paying homage to the very process of clothing creation in her graduate collection Ivana Janigová. The six was closed by ** Alexandra Kondáčová ** with a collection that took inspiration from the contemporary world of consumerism and the visual perpetual of mobile social networks.

She is also a graduate of VŠVU Marína Žiaková and in her case, the fact that she threw herself into the study of design after the age of fifty also draws attention. Her work took on significant elements from the first moment. In the latest one, called ERNA, she paid tribute to the sculptor Erne Masarovičová and even worked with fabrics that she found in the studio of the deceased artist. The basis of the collection was raw silk, leather, but also stiffer taffeta materials with a more pronounced shine. The resulting collection, which had its premiere at the Vienna Fashion Week, was at first glance artistic and the individual models were like clothing sculptures. The silky flowing creations were especially charming, which worked in an exemplary manner with the movement of the body, the clothes with more pronounced sculptural elements looked more costume and theatrical. The ERNA collection was the largest collection of Friday’s program to the extent, but it would deserve more editing. While in the previous collection Žiaková focused on combining an artistic idea with wearability, in this case the inspiration of sculpture and also a sustainable approach to creating clothes without waste or even using scissors in some models revealed their risks. In some places, the art suppressed an important attribute of wearability.

The idea of ​​sustainability in the clothing industry was also developed by the designer Silvia Zrebná, while in her case we do not have to doubt the carrying capacity of individual creations. The Necessity collection indicated a kind of folklore inspiration, which was supported by the modification of the models. However, Janošík’s pigtails and lip-colored lips complemented very contemporary creations such as a wrap dress, wide trousers, looser jackets with a slightly shifted shaft or elastic leggings with stitching and a ruffled hem, which partially evoked the woven underwear of the Slovak countryside. Author’s embroidery by Zuzana Svatíková was used on some clothes. Zrebná focused on the principle of upcycling and added elements to the individual pieces of clothing already worn, reworked into new or complementary new clothing from the collection.

Perhaps the most interesting achievement of Friday’s program was the Prodigious collection from the brand freier, which consists of Terézia Feňovčíková. Her work is characterized by inspiration from cultural phenomena and icons. new collection and decorated with some clothes. Feňovčíková enchanted with precise tailoring, the craft was evident in the elaboration of individual models of coats, coats or sports anoraks, but also on partially deconstructed shirt-blouses, which were complemented by wrap skirts or elastic tops with the author’s print. The collection was presented by male mannequins, but its sexuality was not clearly defined – the freier questioned masculinity amplified in broad shoulders by adding pink details, lace cuffs on the sleeves or collars. However, this decoration effectively disrupted and actually complemented the entire collection, which can undoubtedly appeal to fans of fashion for both sexes.

The end of Friday night was then carried under the baton of a designer Petry Weingart, which, like Feňovčíková, has a powerful weapon in precise craftsmanship and tailoring. However, her collection was much more commercial, which in this case is not meant to be negative at all. Weingart offered a sexy and feminine collection, in which it mixed the elegant character of clothes with sporty aesthetics and which was dominated by timeless clothing solitaires – most resonished with elaborate coats and shortened coats with accentuated shoulders, but also shirt dresses with asymmetrical hem, striped shirts wrap miniskirt with zipper, also using the element of asymmetry and geometry. The primarily black-and-white palette was complemented in several models by the blue color, which Weingart presented in the form of elegant dresses with shoulders of the eighties, but also a sporty variation on the sweatshirt model, again with reinforced shoulders.
