Third dose, France advises against Moderna: only Pfizer will be used

In France, the use of Moderna’s anti-Covid vaccine is not recommended for the third dose, administered to those who have already completed the vaccination cycle. The French High Authority for Health (Has) took a step back from the recommendations issued on 6 October, which provided for the use of the two mRna vaccines, now excluding Moderna and recommending only Pfizer, pending the results of the more detailed analysis by the European Medicines Agency Ema. The opinion on the use of the Moderna vaccine for the first two doses, however, remains unchanged. Has decided to follow a precautionary principle also in relation to the decisions of the health authorities of some European countries, Sweden and Denmark, which suspended the vaccine for the younger population groups. In France, the third dose is generally intended for the elderly, but there are also young people who work in health care or the immunosuppressed.
