David Amess, who was the GB deputy stabbed to death

Sir David Anthony Andrew Amess, 69, the British Conservative MP who was stabbed to death today in a meeting with voters, had sat in parliament for the Conservative party for 38 years, but was never a minister. A staunch supporter of Brexit, he had been involved in many animal rights campaigns, including one against fox hunting. Catholic, he was married and father of five children, including actress Katie Amess. He had been the deputy of Basildon College since 1983, and then moved on to Southwest End College in 1987. He was opposed to abortion and same-sex marriage.
