However, as a step in the style of “preaching water, drinking wine”, the current coalition has heard a shower of criticism. It did not spare the parliamentary opposition or non-parliamentary parties. Transparency International Slovakia also criticized the way the lucrative position was filled, according to which the government is weakening confidence in the selection process.

The non-government recalled that the government has decided to appoint Marozsa to this position, despite two competitions for this position, which has been organized by the Ministry of Agriculture in recent weeks.

“The winner of the first case, Karol Rajnoha, was stopped by Minister Samuel Vlčan, because Rajnoha worked more than 20 years ago in a law firm that is suing SPF. “The anti-corruption plans for the organization, which manages hundreds of thousands of hectares of state land and unidentified landlords, were not offered at all, although its two former directors ended up in custody for corruption.” clarified.

According to the non-government, despite the fact that Ján Marosz acted as an anti-corruption activist in the past and it is possible that the Slovak Land Fund under his leadership will start to operate more transparently and efficiently, it will be difficult to get rid of the taste of his nomination. “This is also an unfortunate choice because it questions the importance of competitions and public hearings as such. Not only in the eyes of the public, but also in the experts who will consider participating in competitions for public office in the future.” they added.

Both parliamentary and extra-parliamentary opposition are on their feet

The transparency of the tender was also criticized by the opposition party Smer-SD. “It’s skyrocketing how the governing coalition selects individual nominees in a non-transparent way and how it works.” said Richard Takáč, vice-chairman of the Smer-SD party. Marozsa called Matovič and Heger a man who did not even participate in the tender.

In the past, Marozs was a member of the National Elections for the OĽaNO party, where he had a reputation as a transport expert. After the 2020 elections, he was referred to as a possible transport minister. In the end, however, the resort fell to the We Are Family party and their nominee, Andrej Doležal, became the minister. But Marozs took the place of secretary of state.

However, he did not remain in office for two weeks and was removed by the government. “We have decided that it will be better if we use his managerial skills directly at the government office,” said the then Prime Minister Igor Matovic, Marozsa’s appeal. According to his CV, Marozs then served as the Prime Minister’s adviser on transport and is also listed as a member of Tipos’ supervisory board.

“My first steps as CEO of SPF will be to set up all processes so that the citizen comes first.
