The price of petrol in the Czech Republic is breaking records. It’s at a 7-year high! – PRAVDA.sk

The last time Czechs had such expensive petrol and diesel was in 2014. Despite record prices, however, petrol is still cheaper in the Czech Republic than in Slovakia.

Our western neighbors are not happy about the current fuel prices.

Although there is a lot of talk in Slovakia now about the increase in the price of electricity and natural gas, there is also a risk of another increase in price, which will affect most households. It is more expensive fuels. We have only recently written, for example, that in Austria, due to the new environmental tax, a systematic increase in the price of fuels will start next year, regardless of oil prices.

The situation in the neighboring Czech Republic is also complicated. There, fuel prices are actually “breaking records” and have even reached 7-year highs. The last time petrol was more expensive was at the end of 2014. Just for the sake of interest – the most used Natural 95 increased by as much as 7 crowns and 50 pennies year-on-year. That’s 30 cents. The average price of diesel also crossed the 34-crown mark for the first time since 2014.

Currently, according to information on the website of CCS, which monitors fuel prices, the average price of Natural 95 in our western neighbors is 35.47 crowns per liter, diesel costs an average of 34.07 crowns, which is a crown and 16 pennies more than a week ago.

Just for the sake of interest, let’s compare it with the average prices in Slovakia, which are monitored by the Benzin.sk portal for a change. According to the NBS exchange rate calculator, Natural 95 in the Czech Republic currently costs 1.40 euros and diesel 1.34 euros per liter. So, despite the record increase in price, the Czechs are still a bit better, because the average price of Natural 95 petrol in the last week in Slovakia was 1.46 euros. The average price of diesel is already the same in both countries, about 1.34 euros.

Just for fun, a year ago the average prices of Natural 95 petrol in Slovakia were 1.15 euros and diesel 1.00 euros.

So the year-on-year price of gasoline rose by 19 cents per liter and diesel even by 34 cents. In the case of diesel, this is a figure that practically copies, or slightly exceeds, the Czech record growth in fuel prices.

Just for the sake of interest, when refueling “full”, for simplicity, let’s consider 50 liters of fuel, in Slovakia a year ago we paid for the “tank” a year ago 57 euros and 50 cents, but currently it is 15 and a half euros more. For diesel, we paid an average of 50 euros a year for a “tank” (50 liters), but currently it is 17 euros more.
