It is a vote without real suspense which is held Thursday, October 14 at the end of the day. The mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo should largely win the internal ballot in the Socialist Party during which activists will nominate the party’s official candidate for the 2022 presidential election. “We should be around 80%“in his favor the spokesman of the PS forecasts.
If this duel with Stéphane Le Foll, the only declared competitor, is not really one, this vote is an important step. The challenge is to finally launch the campaign of the socialist candidate with more resources. “For the moment, Anne Hidalgo was campaigning with limited means, recognizes Lamia El Aaraje, support of the mayor of Paris. With this designation, a militant war machine will set in motion.“
From this weekend, a national communication operation will be launched, called “Tous sur le pont”. It will begin with a militant towing to communicate on the now candidate official. Stéphane Le Foll knows he has no chance of winning but he maintains his candidacy, considering that he has been despised by his party.

PS activists are invited to vote in the federations on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and the result will be known in the evening. Anne Hidalgo’s teams are already focused on the upcoming investiture convention on October 23 in Lille. They intend to rely on this socialist land, with the support of the mayor of Lille Martine Aubry, to breathe life into a rather gloomy start to the campaign.
