The jury was fascinated by a short story about otherness.
BRATISLAVA. The jury of the prestigious Slovak literary award Anasoft litera often faces difficult decisions. Especially when the shooters and award-winning authors meet in the final, together with surprisingly strong debutants.
It was similar in the current 16th year of the award.
The award for the best prose of the past year was finally won by Barbora Hrínová’s book debut entitled Unicorn (Aspect 2020).
The public learned the name of the winner at a ceremony on Tuesday, October 12.

“A strong, qualitatively balanced trio ended up in the shortlist. The selection of the laureate was decided by very fine details, especially the increased authorial sensitivity and the ability to strengthen – hopefully – the reader’s sensitivity,” the expert jury explains.
The winner was decided by five Mária Ferenčuhová, Rafał Majerek, Patrik Garaj, Marta Součková, Radka Denemarková.
Hrínová is a three-time finalist in the Poviedka competition, the author of radio documentaries, and in the field of television screenwriting she has also collaborated on several series and the documentary series Prvá.
