The Minister of the Armed Forces Florence Parly paid tribute to the memory of the missing soldier. “The housekeeper Adrien Quélin died following an accident during a maintenance operation in Timbuktu in Mali. I salute his commitment and bow to his memory. My thoughts are with his family, his loved ones and Brothers in arms”, she wrote in a post on Twitter.
The 29-year-old Marshal des Logis Adrien Quélin belonged to the 4th Chasseurs de Gap regiment. He was single and childless. Decorated several times for his feats of arms, he was screened in Mali on July 1, 2021, as part of Operation Barkhane within the Desert Battle Group No. 1 on the Timbuktu relay platform.
