After a year of postponing the deadlines due to anti-pandemic measures, the 27th year of the Czech Theater Festival is finally applying for your favor and will start on 4 November. As always, it offers the production of six leading Czech theaters with performances that do not lack humor. Ironic, pungent, kind, but certainly not the first planvý.
Traditions must be respected and, as for several years, this year the beginning of the festival will belong to the matador of Czech theater. The Jára Cimrman Theater comes up with the most successful play of its extremely successful career. Pub at the meeting, or the truth about who is the real author of the famous operetta melodies Zdeněk will be revealed to us by Zdeněk Svěrák and his entourage. Because this is their only Slovak “station”, they will play twice.
Petr Kostka, Jaroslav Satoranský and Miroslav Vladyka as three war veterans in the moving comedy of the respected French playwright Gérald Sibleyras – Heroes. This is the current offer of the Kalich Theater directed by Petr Slavík.
Peter Quilter is a world-famous playwright who wrote the play directly for the Ungelt Theater Tear your father. Having a teenage son is not just that, if he lives a lively nightlife. Directed by Pavel Ondruch, Bára Štěpánková, Petr Stach and the talented son of Veronika Žilková, Vincent Navrátil, will perform in a crazy comedy.
Perfect Days is a world-famous play by Liz Lochhead, which has a successful film and theater version in the Czech Republic. Lenka Vlasáková and Jan Dolanský, together with their colleagues, will tell the story of a woman whose biological clock is already starting to tickle and is looking for a very original solution. A romantic comedy for women who want to be happy and men who are not afraid of it, directed by Petr Kracík.
Until our mistresses divide us is the name of a game by the French author, an expert on unexpected funny situations, Eric Assous. Vladimír Kratina and Veronika Freimanová, directed by Michaela Doleželová and produced by Pantheon Production, dominate the brilliant situation comedy about how many mistresses are needed to ruin a long-term marriage.
The Bolek Polívka Theater is coming to the festival with a play by the French couple Pierre Palmade and Christophe Duthuron. It has a name Rebels and directed by Antonín Procházka, Chantal Poullain and Štěpánka Křesťanová will present it. A tragicomic meeting of two mature women who decided, each for a different reason, to take destiny back into their own hands.
The Czech Theater Festival will also include an exhibition “The legacy of Václav Havel in the work of young graphic artists”
This year we commemorate the 85th undead birthday and the 10th anniversary of the death of the first post-November Czechoslovak president Václav Havel. Students of the graphic studio of the Faculty of Design and Art of Ladislav Sutnar of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen within the international project Freedom, as a view of the young generation, created a collection of posters inspired by the personality of playwright and politician Václav Havel. The exhibited works are part of an extensive unit, which was first presented in Prague in 2019. The works were created under the direction of prof. Rostislav Vaňek and doc. Kristýna Fišerová. The exhibition was created in cooperation with the Czech Center in Bratislava.
