BRATISLAVA – Although we have many beauties and beautiful architectures in Slovakia, there are also those that directly spoil their surroundings. This year, too, a really special competition took place, where the seven worst buildings of the year were awarded.

The Slovak anti-prize Brutus is announced by anonymous volunteers who map the overall situation of buildings in Slovakia. This is a public survey where architecture lovers evaluate various buildings. “The awards are announced by an informal jury of fans of good architecture,” remarked Zuzana Duchová, the current secretary of the award.

Their goal is to show the work of people who lack vision and talent. This year, people nominated up to 35 buildings for this competition. Their prize, or their placement, was chosen by a professional anonymous jury. Up to 7 “sins” have been placed this year. The building in Jasná earned the absolute first place in the whole competition. However, the ranking also included buildings in Bratislava, Trenčianske Teplice and even a new Niva building.

1. Hotel Damian, Jasná

This is a new hotel in the Tatras, which has an incredible area of ​​up to 37,000 m2 and a capacity of up to 500 people. However, there is also a children’s world, wellness and even parking spaces in the area. And it is its size that is what this building deserves first place in this survey. The jury especially blamed him for his intervention in these natural beauties in Jasná. “The work of the authors of these works demonstrates the combination of anti-talent and the absence of a vision, thus contributing to the social or ecological decline of Slovakia,” wrote the jury on the competition website.

2. Salesians of Miletič in Bratislava

This oratorio was inaugurated just a few days ago and has already earned second place in this competition. At the construction site, the jury blamed most on its method of implementation. According to them, its contractors were supposed to change.
