(CNN) – An earthquake of preliminary magnitude 6.4 shook the Greek island of Crete on Tuesday, according to a report from the United States Geological Survey (USGS, for its acronym in English).

The epicenter was located in the town of Palekastro and was 10 kilometers deep, according to the report.
