The German authority said it clearly: This vaccine does not sufficiently protect against CORONAVIRUS – Topky.sk

According to STIKO, anyone who has been vaccinated against a coronavirus vaccine from Johnson & Johnson should receive another dose of mRNA vaccine for better protection. This can be done four weeks after the Johnson & Johnson vaccination, a group of experts said. As a justification, STIKO referred to so-called vaccination breaks. Due to the number of doses administered, most of these infections were reported in people vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in Germany.

The efficacy against the delta variant, which is prevalent in this country, is relatively low, unlike other coronavirus vaccines. “Due to the inadequate protection of the vaccine after the only recommended dose of vaccine for this vaccine so far, STIKO recommends optimizing the basic immunization with COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen mRNA vaccine as the next dose.”

On the contrary, Carsten Watzl, general secretary of the German Society for Immunology, stressed some time ago that the Johnson & Johnson vaccine can very well protect against serious coronavirus disease.

CORONAVIRUS The truth about the fully vaccinated: THIS risk is much lower

This is not yet a final STIKO recommendation. The relevant motion for a resolution was agreed with the expert groups and the Länder. Therefore, changes are still possible. For Johnson & Johnson vaccine, one dose was previously considered sufficient for complete protection against vaccination, whereas for other approved vaccines, two doses were initially given. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), more than 3.2 million vaccinations with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine have been reported so far.
