The new survey by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) highlights the involvement of dozens of public figures and leaders in offshore financial arrangements. A question dealt with this week by the Dutch designer Tjeerd Royaards.

What do King Abdullah II of Jordan, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis, President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, former IMF Director Dominique Strauss have in common? Kahn or even the singers Julio Iglesias and Shakira?

All were pinned down in the latest survey by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), conducted in partnership with 150 international media outlets, on offshore financial arrangements published October 3, 2021.

An investigation based on 11.9 million confidential tax evasion documents which, as the ICIJ explains, “reveals that many powerful actors who could help end the offshore system have instead profited, by hiding active in secret societies and trusts while their governments do little to slow a global flow of illicit money that enriches criminals and impoverishes nations. “
