A US nuclear submarine suffered damage after hitting an unidentified object in the Indo-Pacific region. According to the AFP agency, this was announced by the US Navy.

The USS Connecticut nuclear-powered assault submarine “crashed into the building while submerged on the afternoon of October 2, while operating in international waters in the Indo-Pacific region,” the naval statement said.

“The submarine remains in a safe and stable condition. The nuclear power unit and USS Connecticut premises have not been affected and remain fully operational, “the report said.

According to the Navy, the incident did not claim life-threatening injuries to the crew, but the USNI News website, which specializes in maritime intelligence, said that about ten sailors ended up with “moderate to minor injuries”.

According to USNI News, the submarine operated in the South China Sea, where the US Navy sought to challenge China’s disputed territorial claims to small islands, reefs and outcrops, and is now heading for the US Guam base.
