Peter Debnár was born on October 8, 1941. He studied directing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, and briefly devoted himself to theater directing, but since 1968 he has worked as an actor.

He stood at the birth of the legendary Bratislava Theater in Korza. “Real acting fanatics met at the Korza Theater, many of whom left the National Theater voluntarily. After the last performance in the summer of 1971, everyone cried. And imagine the look of the huge guy Maco Debnar shedding big tears, “ stated in 2012 by the writer Kornel Földvári, who held the position of theater director. Peter Debnár has always described his work at the Korza Theater as his most beautiful period of his life.

On the film screen, Peter Debnár made his debut in 1961 with a minor role in Ján Lack’s film Always Started. He also met Milan Lasic and Július Satinský for the first time.

Then he appeared in a number of films, for all of them we will mention the films Master Executioner, Runaways and Pilgrims, Sweet Games of the Last Summer, Queen of Spades, Pacho, Hybni Robber, Cherry Orchard, Dinner, Thibault. The monuments will certainly remember series such as Summer with Katka and Safari.

He retreated due to health problems, in 1995 he overcame a stroke. Even after that, however, he returned to pedagogical and acting work. For the last time, viewers could see the artist in Petr Krištúfek’s film A Long Short Night (2003). Peter Debnár died suddenly on June 8, 2004 in Bratislava at the age of 62. The cause of death was a heart attack.
