Fake news covid on Facebook, sentenced to 15 months in prison

A fake news on covid posted on Facebook costs the author, a man from San Antonio, Texas, 15 months in prison. Christopher Charles Perez was convicted on two counts, including spreading false news in relation to biological weapons, the Justice Department said. In April last year, the 40-year-old posted two Facebook posts, claiming he paid a covid 19 positive subject to get him to lick products in a city supermarket. The screenshot of one of the posts was forwarded to the FBI office in San Antonio and the investigation started. The threat turned out to be unfounded and Perez admitted that he had published fake news. “Whoever threatens to use covid 19 as a weapon to others will have to answer for it, even if the threat is a joke”, is the FBI note reported by CBS.
