Squid Game: Netflix modifies the series to end a case of harassment

To put an end to the telephone harassment of which a Korean was victim, Netflix decided to modify passages of its new phenomenon series “Squid Game”.

“I get calls and texts all the time, 24/7, to the point where it is difficult for me to carry on with my daily life. (…) People contact me day and night.” The success of Squid Game does not only make people happy, and since the release of the Netflix series, this Korean has been living through hell.

The number on the business card given to each of the participants of the game refers in fact to the personal line of a particular, victim of real harassment for about two weeks. Widely reported in the media, the case had reached the upper echelons of Netflix.

The platform was quick to act, deciding to modify the passages of the series where the number appeared. Subtle cuts which do not change anything in the general sense of the series, but which will perhaps finally bring the peace requested from this woman, sometimes identified as a man in some of our colleagues.
