The focus of COVID is increasing: MAP of analysts, there are more black districts! It was to be expected, vaccination is low – Topky.sk

Analysts assessed the situation according to PCR tests. The figures indicate a deteriorating situation in eastern Slovakia, in Kysucie and in the Poltár district. Stará Ľubovňa, Svidník and Bardejov belong to the three districts with the worst 7-day incidence. The third wave is here and the situation is likely to be even worse than originally expected. According to the Prime Minister, this is also due to the low vaccination rate.

The worst situation is in the district of Stará Ľubovňa

Positive cases are increasing and hospital beds are being filled, which are slowly approaching further reprofiling. Vaccination was supposed to ensure that people would not need to be hospitalized and would not end up on devices. However, the vaccination rate in Slovakia is only around 43 percent. Yesterday, there were almost 2,000 more cases in terms of positive PCR tests. Analysts from Data without Pathos have compiled a new ranking of district evaluations.

The situation is getting worse, but we expected it, vaccination coverage is low

Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OĽANO) called on people to abide by pandemic measures. He pointed out the onslaught of patients facing hospitals and the heavy burden on healthcare professionals. For those who do not want to be vaccinated against COVID-19, he said the only tool is wearing a drape or respirator.

“The pandemic situation in Slovakia is deteriorating. This is not an unexpected news. We expected it not only because it is happening due to the situation in other countries, but also due to low vaccination coverage,” the Prime Minister stated. He added that more than 80 percent of those hospitalized are unvaccinated. “I don’t blame people, it’s up to everyone to decide whether or not to protect themselves with a vaccine.” he added. As he reminded, full hospitals cause delays in operations due to the need to reprofile beds, but also place an enormous burden on health professionals. He thanked the paramedics for their sacrifice and encouraged them in their further deployment.
