Espionage: NATO withdraws their accreditation from eight members of the Russian mission

NATO has withdrawn their accreditation from eight members of the Russian diplomatic mission to the alliance, accusing them of being “undeclared agents of Russian intelligence”, announced Wednesday (October 6th) a NATO representative.

A high-ranking Russian parliamentarian, Leonid Sloutski, who heads the foreign affairs committee of the lower house of parliament, has promised retaliation from Moscow, according to the Interfax news agency.

“We can confirm that we have reduced to ten the number of positions for which Russia can be accredited with NATO,” said a representative of the Transatlantic Alliance.

“NATO’s policy towards Russia remains consistent. We have stepped up our deterrence and our defense in response to Russia’s aggressive actions, while remaining open to meaningful dialogue,” he added. .
