Legislative elections in Iraq: the perilous campaign of opponents, threatened with death

In Iraq, 80 political activists have been the target of assassinations or kidnappings since the start of the protest movement that erupted in 2019 against corruption and government incompetence. As voters prepare to vote for the legislative elections, many fear that this wave of violence will dissuade candidates from running. France 24 correspondents, Lucile Wassermann and Jack Hewson, traveled to the town of Kut to meet activists who were victims of intimidation and attacks.

In Amman, a wind of panic is blowing over the royal palace.
