The Czech Republic is furious after xenophobic insults and asks for an apology: Our children are not rotten fruit! – Športky.sk

PRAGUE – On Monday, the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Jakub Kulhánek, through the British Ambassador to the Czech Republic Nick Archer, asked for an apology for the inappropriate attacks on Czech children, allegedly committed by a member of the Scottish Football Association (SFA). The Ministry of Diplomacy informed about it on its official website.

The incident is related to the European League match between Sparta Prague and Glasgow Rangers. “I understand that a sports meeting brings various emotions that can be transferred off the field,” Kulhánek said after meeting Archer. “But even that has its limits and must not grow into xenophobic insults aimed at minors,” stressed the minister.

SFA’s Marvin Barley criticized Czech children on Twitter, who allegedly racistly scolded dark-skinned player Glen Kamara of the Glasgow club during Thursday’s match.

He compared children to rotten fruit

According to Kulhánek, Archer summoned Archer to submit his request to the Scottish Football Association: “I asked for an excuse or a clear distance from the person who compared the comparison of Czech children to rotten fruit.”

According to Barley, children did not make mistakes on Thursday because their behavior imitates adults or allows them to be encouraged. “What other options do they have when you place them in a bowl of rotten fruit,” Barley wrote and attached a photo of the rotten strawberries to the text.

A disgusting attack on Czech children

The Czech Minister of the Interior, Jan Hamáček, described his statements as a “disgusting attack” on Czech children and the Czech Republic. He also said that Kulhánka had asked to call the British ambassador.

Finnish midfielder Kamara was the target of racist insults in a duel with Slavia Prague in March this year. They were allegedly committed by Slavia’s defender Ondřej Kúdela, who, however, denied the blame. Nevertheless, he got a distance in ten matches.
