Bad weather: Bouches-du-Rhône placed in red “rain-flood” vigilance, the rest of the Paca region in orange – La Provence

The rainy episode that has affected the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region since yesterday will continue today. This Monday, the Bouches-du-Rhône are placed in red vigilance for “rain-flood” by Météo France. An alert that will be valid from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. By noon, the department is already on orange alert, like the rest of the region.

Météo France indicates on its website that it has already recorded 42 mm of precipitation in Arles in Arles, 60 mm in Aix-en-Provence, 80 mm in Cassis and 106 mm in Mimet.

The episode also affects Vaucluse where lightning struck a house, yesterday in Cavaillon. In this department, 89 mm of rain were recorded in Orange and 54 in Bédarrides.

Up to 240 mm of expected accumulations and hail

Overall, 80 to 120 mm are expected. In the Bouches-du-Rhône, and in particular in the east of the department, the accumulations could reach 240 mm.

It is this afternoon that the episode will be the most violent with rainfall intensities of around 40 to 60 mm in a short time, strong gusts of wind and hail.

At the end of the day, the improvement will arrive from the west.
