KOŠICE. Next week in Košice, they will begin the reconstruction of the Slanecká road, which is the busiest road II. classes in the Košice region.

The modernization will be carried out by the Bratislava company Doprastav, which won a public tender with a price of EUR 11.9 million including VAT.

The first cars should run on the reconstructed Slanecká cesta in August 2023.

The Minister of Investment, Regional Development and Informatization of the Slovak Republic informed about it on Friday Veronika Remišová (For the people) together with the mayor of Košice Jaroslav Polaček (independent) and the mayor of Nad jazerom Lenka Kovačevičová (independent).

Remišová: People will travel better

“I am very pleased that thanks to 17 million euros from the IROP Regional Operational Program, managed by our ministry, the busiest section of the Slane road will be fundamentally renovated and people will travel easier, faster and, most importantly, safer. For the new Eurofund period, we have introduced changes so that such projects will be able to be financed from one package at a time, which will greatly simplify and speed up the whole process, “said Remišová.

As part of the tender for the project contractor, the price of the contract was significantly reduced by 7 million.

The Bratislava company Doprastav succeeded in the procurement with a price offer of 11.9 million euros with VAT.

The mayor recalled the difficult process

The mayor of Košice, Polaček, recalled the demanding process of property law settlement of land, which was a condition for obtaining a building permit and the possibility of drawing financial resources from Eurofunds.

The city had to negotiate with landowners for almost 100 purchase, exchange and lease agreements, including encumbrance agreements.

“The reconstruction of Slanecká cesta is the most important transport project in recent years. I am very pleased that, thanks to the tremendous efforts of dozens of people in the municipality and the good cooperation at the ministry, we have managed to get into this phase. The fact that we can announce the beginning of the implementation of this important modernization here today was preceded by hundreds of negotiations at various levels, from landowners to government institutions, “said Polaček.

Traffic restrictions for up to a year

Residents of the Nad Jazerom housing estate and motorists do not expect significant traffic restrictions in the coming weeks.

These will not occur until next year.

The main construction works, which will, among other things, result in the diversion of traffic from the right side of the Slanecká road towards Krásná to intra-settlement roads, should be tentatively started in the spring of 2022.

They are renovating more than two kilometers of roads

The total length of reconstructed or renovated roads on Slanecká cesta and in its immediate vicinity will be 2,275 meters.

In addition to the construction of a four-lane road and the reconstruction of all eight of its intersections, there will be 10 modern stops of integrated urban and suburban public transport, as well as a 2.2-kilometer-long cycle path leading along the Slanecká Road.

For the reconstruction, the city received a non-repayable financial contribution from the Eurofund Integrated Regional Operational Program in the amount of 95 percent.

The co-financing of the city, including the additional costs for relocation of engineering networks, should amount to a total of 950 thousand euros.
