9:08 WORLD – Romania reported 12,032 new cases of the disease on Thursday, the highest daily increase since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Over the past month, infection rates in the Balkan state have risen from about 1,000 cases a day to a record 12,000 on Thursday.

There are currently 1,364 patients with covid in the intensive care units, and this number is not far from the national capacity of beds at the ICU.

Romania has the second lowest vaccination against coronavirus in European Union. Only 34% of the adult population is fully vaccinated.

According to health authorities, from 20 to 26 September, almost 75% of new cases and 92% of deaths were among unvaccinated people.

8:04 WORLD – 917 new cases were added in the Czech Republic in the past day. The reproduction number has also increased in the country, the value of which is currently 1.24.

7:05 WORLD – Australia will start opening its borders after 18 months from November and allow the people of the country to travel abroad even without the permit they have hitherto needed under the anti-pandemic measures in place.

This was announced by the local Prime Minister Scott Morrison, writes the AFP agency.

Morrison explained that Australians vaccinated against the coronavirus would be able to return home in a “few weeks” and travel abroad.
