Floodplain bridge The symmetry is about three kilometers long.

The outer or zero bypass of Bratislava is already becoming a reality. On Sunday (September 26), in the early evening hours, another section of the D4 between the Bratislava-Petržalka and Bratislava-South crossings (formerly known as Ketelec) was opened to motorists, which also includes the expected Lužný Bridge. It is part of the so-called Danube summit 3 kilometers long.

The new junction thus joins the previously operated sections D4 Bratislava, South – Podunajské Biskupice – Vrakuňa – Bratislava, East and Bratislava, Rača – Čierna voda. The route R7 Bratislava, South – Šamorín, West – Šamorín, North – Holice is also in use. D4 and R7 will be connected at the intersection Bratislava, South.

Such great views open from the new floodplain bridge to cyclists:

In just a few days, most likely on the first weekend of October, motorists will have access to other parts of the bypass. Specifically, it concerns the remaining part of the R7 expressway between the Bratislava – Nivy and Bratislava – South crossings and the D4 section Bratislava – Jarovce and Bratislava – Petržalka, and during October the section D4 between Ivanka pri Dunaji and Čierna voda should also be open.

This will significantly change the mode of transport in Bratislava and its wider surroundings. Following the opening of sections D4 and R7, which are a public-private partnership project, there will also be a break in the use of the D1 and D2 motorways. As Bratislava borders Austria and Hungary, the changes will also affect long-distance motorists. The National Highway Company (NDS) points them out.

Sections D4 and R7 are tolled in terms of traffic signs, which means that drivers of motor vehicles up to 3.5 t need to have paid an electronic motorway toll to use them

How to travel a new one if you are a transiting motorist:

  • If you are returning from a holiday from Austria, Hungary or the Czech Republic and you are living anywhere in the direction of Komárno, at the D2 Bratislava – Jarovce junction, head to the D4 and you will reach the new Lužný Bridge over the Danube. Then you just turn onto the R7, which will take you directly to the south of Slovakia.
  • If you are from Slovakia and you are heading to Austria or Hungary, you are probably coming to Bratislava on the D1 from Trnava. At the Bratislava – Nivy junction, bypassing the Port Bridge, turn onto the new R7. At the nearest crossroads, take the D4 across the Danube and further towards the border.

bypass – map Please note that the sections that will open at the beginning of October are also marked in green on the map, specifically the remaining part of the R7 expressway between the Bratislava – Nivy and Bratislava – South junctions and the D4 section Bratislava – Jarovce and Bratislava – Petržalka.

How to travel a new one if you are a Bratislava motorist:

  • If you live in Jarovce or Rusovce and need to get to Podunajské Biskupice, you can use the Bratislava – Jarovce junction on the D2 motorway. You can cross the floodplain over the Danube and take the motorway at the junction of Podunajské Biskupice or Vrakuňa.
  • If you are in the center of Bratislava and live in Šamorín, you can use the Bratislava – Nivy junction on the D1 motorway under the Port Bridge. A
  • If you are from Rača or Vajnôr and you need to get home quickly from the city center, you should try the Bratislava – Nivy junction on the D1 motorway. The new R7 at the Bratislava – Juh intersection will then turn onto the new D4.

NDS motorways are powered by private motorways in the following places:

  • intersection Bratislava – Jarovce (D2 × D4)
  • intersection Bratislava – Nivy (D1 × R7)
  • Bratislava-South junction (D1 × R7)

Bratislava’s D1 and D2 motorways will become the Central Ring Road. The central circuit, in contrast to the newly opened bypass, remains free of charge for passenger cars.
