Roads and highways: what are the current and future projects in the region? – LaDepeche.fr

Hoped for for decades by the inhabitants of the south of the Tarn, the A69 which will link Castres to Toulouse will experience a boost this Saturday, September 25. Prime Minister Jean Castex is expected in Castres to take stock of the project and is expected to make announcements. Beyond the A69, other major projects are underway or planned in our region. Here are the main ones.

• Haute-Garonne and Aude: the A61 with 2×3 lanes

Work is continuing on the A61 where 14 km of motorway will change to 2×3 lanes between the A61 / A66 junction and the service areas of Port-Lauragais. Occasional closures of shoulder straps take place regularly during the work. Commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2023. Cost of the work: 200 million euros.

Still on the A61, Vinci Autoroute and its partners have undertaken renovation work on the Toulouse-North area in the direction of Toulouse and on the service station in the Port-Lauragais South area in the direction of Narbonne. From October, the work to create a car park and sanitary facilities after the Toulouse-Sud tollgate towards Narbonne will begin. The areas of the A61 will be equipped with electric charging stations within 18 months.

In the Aude, on the A61, 20 km of motorway will pass to 2×3 lanes between the Lézignan interchange (n ° 25) and the A61 / A9 junction in Narbonne. Objective: to avoid congestion during peak periods with up to 80,000 vehicles per day. Occasional closures of shoulder straps take place regularly during the work. Commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2023.

• Ariège: the Tarascon deviation

The RN 20 will soon see new works. While the 2×2 lane currently stops at Tarascon-sur-Ariège, a 2.2 km deviation from Tarascon has been made to 2×1 lane for 2027. It will include a 1.4 km tunnel. A new overtaking window is also planned at Vèbre and improvements to the Ussat and Ornolac crossings. Tarascon remains the big black spot on the road to Andorra. The detour will save about 20 minutes.

• Aveyron: the Baraqueville deviation

The doubling of the RN 88 to 2×2 lanes between Rodez and Albi should be completed in several months. Work on the Baraqueville bypass in Aveyron is underway. Earthworks continued this summer. This final 7 km section should open to traffic in early 2023 or even in summer 2022. It will save several minutes between Albi and Rodez. Total amount of works between Saint-Jean-La Mothe / Baraqueville diversion: 240 million euros.

• Gers: the doubling of the RN 124

The RN 124, the most frequented road axis of the Gers, will be entirely in 2×2 lanes by 2027. The financing of the last section of 13 km, between Gimont and Isle-Jourdain, had been signed by Jean Castex during ” a trip to Gimont on May 14th. Cost of the works: 142 million. Work on the Gimont diversion will be completed in 2022.

• Tarn: the A69 Castres / Toulouse

Old sea serpent, the A69 will take a step forward this Saturday. Jean Castex will announce the name of the future concessionaire of the motorway which will link Castres to Toulouse over 60 km. Vinci Autoroutes, Eiffage and other groups applied. The project is costed at 480 million euros. The schedule provides for at least two years of work and commissioning in 2025.

• Lot-et-Garonne: new interchange on the A62 in Agen

Work to create a new interchange on the A62 in Agen began in March. The entry into service of the Agen-Ouest exit is scheduled for the second half of 2022. The so-called Technopole Agen-Garonne economic zone will be directly connected to the motorway.
