According to the first data collected by the seismic center of the University of the West Indies located in Trinidad, its epicenter was located 81 kilometers northeast of Pointe-à-Pitre, 83 kilometers southeast of Saint John’s in Antigue and 175 kilometers north of Dominica.

On September 9, an earthquake of magnitude 5.2 on the Richter scale, a priori on the same fault, shook the archipelago.
