Braun XT Series shaver review: the OneBlade has finally found someone to talk to! – Digital

It’s pretty much a perfect clone of the OneBlade. Small, compact and light (105g), the Braun Series X is unlike the usual electric shavers that fit in the palm of your hand. Like the OneBlade, it can be operated with your fingertips. Waterproof and usable in the shower, with or without foam, it offers a good grip with the upper part of its rubber-foam plastic handle. Unfortunately, this coating gets dirty quite quickly, as we have seen after three shaves. The small streaks on the front and back quickly become clogged with dirt and residues of cut hair.

The Braun Series X wants to compete with the OneBlade from Philips.

Unlike the OneBlade whose blade fits and disengages to be replaced, the so-called “4D” of the Series X is attached to a plastic support which fits on the upper part of the handle. It is reasonable to think that other accessories could thus be grafted onto the handle, such as a small shaving head dedicated to the nose and ears, for example.
The Series X blade is worth € 17 and is advertised by Braun for a 6 month lifespan. For comparison, a pack of two blades for the OneBlade (advertised lifespan of 4 months) is commercially sold for around twenty euros. Six inseparable clogs are offered here in the kit: four for the face (1, 2, 3 and 5 mm) and two for the body (0 and 3 mm). They clip and unclip on the blade as needed.

The Series X is supplied with its mains charger. Its autonomy is announced up to 45 minutes. A fabric carrying pouch is also in the box. Undoubtedly practical for traveling, it lacks its equivalent for the bathroom with a real storage rack, if only for clogs.

Used to wearing a three-day beard, we started our test with the thickest comb, the 5mm one. After a few back and forth on the face, we fell back on the more appropriate 3mm clog. Immediate observation: the Series X, whose blades and hooves are bidirectional, achieves an impeccable shave. We instantly appreciated the agility of this model, its ability to cover all areas of the face without leaving any fallow land.

Cheeks, mustache, paws obtain a homogeneous rendering in no time and without the slightest feeling of stretching. The hairs are cut without delay and the speed of the operation is to be commended.
In addition, we have relieved the razor of its hoof to operate a clean shave on the cheeks. We then detected a slight heating of the blade, in operation for about 2 minutes. But the cut was clean. In the same spirit of perfection, we took the opportunity to clean the contours of the nose where unsightly little hairs persist in growing, as well as the entrance to the ears which often suffer from the same ailments… The entrance to our nostrils has suffered the same fate, revealing that the Series X offered great versatility.

To conclude this part dedicated to shaving, the small Braun razor ventured without a shoe to completely clean the lower part of our neck. Coated and thick hairs helping, it was necessary to insist more to obtain the desired result. For comparison, we took our OneBlade out of the drawer to complete this big cleanup. It seemed to us that the blade of the Philips razor came more easily and more quickly to end these famous hairs, with a softer skin in the end.
