New inexpensive and low-speed “Ouigo roses”: which SNCF lines are concerned? – BFMTV.COM

Low-speed, low-cost trains. SNCF is launching a new low-cost offer called Ouigo Vitesse Classique. Trains that will go slower than TGVs, but which will also be much cheaper.

Two lines will be put into service in the spring of next year: Paris-Nantes and Paris-Lyon, with three and two round trips per day, respectively. SNCF is targeting 1.2 million passengers in a full year.

Tickets will go on sale a month and a half before departure and their amount will not change: between 10 and 30 euros, 5 euros for children. This is therefore good news for travelers who organize themselves at the last moment.

No catch, additional baggage charge

For a Paris-Lyon, the journey will be around 5 hours, for a Paris-Nantes, less than 4 hours. It is more or less the same time as by car and it is above all three times cheaper for a single traveler. We are of course on a low-cost offer, with its advantages and disadvantages.

“Ouigo Vitesse Classique” will offer two daily round trips between Paris-Bercy and Lyon-Perrache via Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, Melun, Dijon, Chalon-sur-Saône and Mâcon in 4:45 to 5:15 from end to end, and three round trips between Paris-Austerlitz and Nantes via Juvisy, Massy-Palaiseau, Versailles, Chartres, Le Mans and Angers or Juvisy, Les Aubrais, Blois, Saint-Pierre-des-Corps, Saumur and Angers, all in 3 hours 30 to 4 hours 15.

The SNCF’s low-cost TGV should reach Brest, Quimper, La Rochelle and Perpignan from Paris in 2023.

The additional luggage will cost 5 euros and there will be no electrical outlet except in the toilets, as these are old Corail trains refreshed and repainted in pink. Impossible to miss in the stations.

If they are half full, they will already be profitable, according to SNCF, which will develop this offer on other lines if successful.

The company promises new destinations from 2025, thanks to the transformation into Ouigo of 12 additional TGVs, which will be added to the 38 trainsets already in service. For now, it will be launching a more expensive “Ouigo Plus” option, including all the options usually paying: luggage, wifi when available, choice of seat and boarding at the last moment.
