In the early morning hours, a group of people from Iraq stopped 500 meters from the state border with Poland’s eastern neighbor, members of the Polish border guard said on the social network. It is believed that one of the men died of a heart attack and rescuers’ efforts to recover it were unsuccessful. Another man in the group was taken to hospital after a positive coronavirus test.

The information provided by the border guard could not be independently verified because Poland had declared a state of emergency in the border region with Belarus and journalists or humanitarian representatives did not have access to the area, the DPA said. The bodies of three people were discovered in the border area on the Polish side on Sunday, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced. They allegedly tried to enter Poland illegally.

The Polish government blames Lukashenko
