franceinfo: How did Emmanuel Macron’s QR code end up in public?

Eric Bothorel: There is no such thing as a foolproof system that exists as such. But the damage to those who have their QR code defrauded is relatively low. We must indeed intensify controls to identify those who, either upstream or for others, use them quite simply to try to access places that would be prohibited to them because they do not have a vaccination. or because they don’t have a test. But ultimately, for you and me, if someone as I speak to you is having a coffee on the terrace of a bar having spoofed your own QR code, you will agree with me that this prejudice is when even very weak. On the risk scale for cyber or health data breaches, not much is learned. Except perhaps to wish me my birthday, to learn that I was born on October 20, 1966. Emmanuel Macron’s date of birth was already known. We must put the scope of these leaks into perspective.

Does it still pose a problem of conscience vis-à-vis a part of the medical profession?

Undoubtedly. I was unaware, like everyone else, of the way in which these QR codes had been made available. And there, obviously, we are on something that involves individuals who are normally trusted and against that, you know, the difficulties that there may be.

We are talking about a QR code blacklist. What is it about ?

As I speak, you have the option of generating a new QR code if you believe that someone has defrauded yours. But as it stands, the two coexist. It means that both continue to be valid. Tomorrow what we are going to offer to the general public, if you ever suspect fraud and want to be protected, it is under development: you will be able, by means which remain to be defined but probably by an email address, request the deletion of the first QR code which will in fact feed a database which makes the correspondence between the QR codes which are valid and those which are not. This allows for example, if you use Emmanuel Macron’s QR code, that it is detected by Tousanticovid Verified as being fraudulent. So the person who is going to control you will know that he has in front of him someone who presents him with a fraudulent QR code.
