This Tuesday, September 21, Tinder has just lifted the veil on two of its main upcoming changes. Leave aside the old profiles displayed randomly: make way for “Explore” and a way to meet people by following your centers of interest.

Before we dive into this novelty, let’s talk about another change coming in the next few days. French users will soon be able to add videos to their profile, in addition to traditional presentation photos, thanks to a new feature now deployed worldwide.

“It will give members the opportunity to express themselves and discover more about their potential matches by integrating the video format into their profile, in order to hope to find the person who corresponds best”, details Tinder.

By integrating videos into your profile, it will be possible to talk about yourself in front of the camera, show your last memory on vacation, your hidden talents or even try a little humor (at your own risk).

Tinder rolls out “Explore”, a big change

The biggest change that comes to Tinder is called “Explore”. It is the result of the group’s latest acquisition: the South Korean startup Hyperconnect, repurchased for 1.73 billion dollars. Thanks to it and its tools, a new feature arrives that fundamentally changes the way people discover profiles on Tinder.

“Explore” is available in a new tab, independent of the main tab where the profiles of other people are displayed one after the other, thanks to an algorithm. Here, Tinder wants to give this skill back to the user by offering them to look for profiles based on specific criteria such as centers of interest – and leave the physical aside a bit.

“In Explore, everyone will be free to discover their future matches according to their mood and their desires. Whether they are looking for a partner who shares their convictions in the ‘Solidarity Causes’ section or looking for a strong partner in the ‘Entrepreneur’ section », explained Tinder.

Normally the update is scheduled for mid-October and “Explore is an experience that will constantly evolve”, the company said on Tuesday. In addition to targeting meetings based on common points and specific interests known to users, Tinder will also offer “Fast Chat”. For once, it will be quite the opposite: random meetings to put members in front of quick questions. Depending on the responses, they can choose to continue the conversation, or leave it at that.
