NVIDIA offers GeForce RTX 3060s based on castrated GA 104 in China – Cowcotland

A new graphics card has just entered the GPU-Z database, the ID 2487. A card that we already know, because it is a GeForce RTX 3060 so with a GPU NVIDIA. But there, normally, a RTX 3060 is based on a GA106, except that this model ID 2487 embeds in fact a GA104, therefore a GPU that is normally found in the RTX 3070/3070 Ti, and which therefore has the right 5888-6144 Cuda Cores. But here, we are facing a GA104 which only offers 3584 SP ./>

This is not the first time that NVIDIA has used larger GPUs for smaller cards and it may also mean that the 3060 Super is approaching, as the latter will most likely be based on a GA104, as the RTX 2060 Super was operating a TU104 and not a TU106.
