For the first time since mid-April, India reports less than 200,000 coronavirus infections confirmed within 24 hours, well below the more than 400,000 at the beginning of the month, but the death toll remains high. The data communicated by the Ministry of Health and reported by the Times of India speak of 196,427 new infections and another 3,511 deaths. As for the infections, underlines the newspaper, this is the lowest figure since last April 14, when the health authorities reported 200,739, but in the last 13 days alone India has recorded a total of over 50,000 deaths due to the pandemic. Since the beginning of the health emergency, the Asian giant, with a population of over 1.3 billion people, has confirmed 26,948,874 cases and 307,231 deaths. There are 2,586,782 active cases, while 24,054,861 people are declared recovered.
