He won an Oscar in 1993 for his supporting role in the film The Refugee, was nominated for this award for three more roles, and several other films in which he played have made a significant contribution to the history of world cinema.

Tommy Lee Jones was born on September 15, 1946 in the Texas town of San Saba. His mother was a policewoman, a teacher and a business owner, his father worked in an oil field. His parents divorced so they got married again and divorced again. He studied at Harvard, for which he also played American football. One of his classmates and roommates was the later US Vice President Al Gore. After graduating, he moved to New York, where he began to pursue his hobby from high school – acting.

He first appeared in the film in 1970 (Love Story). He became famous in the 1990s, for example for his role in Oliver Stone’s JFK film, for which he was nominated for an Oscar, but was also made famous by the Oscar-winning Refugee or the films Batman Forever and Men in Black. In 2007, he starred in two famous films – In the Valley of Elah (again nominated for an Oscar) and This Country is Not for the Old. He received another Oscar nomination for his role in the 2013 Lincoln film. He is also popular in the adventure drama Space Cowboys (2000).

In 2005, he directed the film Three Funerals, which he directed and also played a major role. The film won two major awards at the Cannes Film Festival. His other work is the film The Power of Life from 2014, which was nominated for a Golden Palm in Cannes.

He is married for the third time, he is happiest on his farms

Although Tommy Lee Jones is a first-rate movie star, this Texas native feels happiest on his horse and cattle farms. In 2009, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame by Texas cowboys.

Jones is married for the third time. He married for the first time in 1971 with Kate Lardner, the niece of screenwriter and journalist Ring Lardner Jr. They were seven together. He has two children from his second marriage to Kimberle Cloughley. In 2001, he married his third wife, Dawn Laurel, with whom he is still living.
