One of the founding members of the Direction – Home – PRAVDA.sk – has died

Ivan Varga, a founding member and longtime member of parliament for Smer, died on Tuesday, September 14, at the age of 68.

This was confirmed on the social network by the Smer party and its chairman Robert Fico.

“He was a convinced social democrat and, as far as his health allowed, he was extremely active, both in the parliament and in the framework of intra-party work,” the party said. Varga served from 2002 to 2016 as a member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, he was a member of the committees for agriculture, finance and health care.

According to Fico Varg, he has suffered from health problems in recent years. “Ivan had the charm of decency and common sense that he brought from his professional life. These are ‘indispensable’ qualities, “Fico added, expressing his sincere condolences to his relatives.
