Covid today China, Delta variant outbreak: two cities in lockdown

An outbreak of the Delta variant of the Coronavirus prompted the Chinese authorities to decide for a lockdown in the cities of Putian and Xiamen, in the province of Fujian, in the southeastern part of the country. After the first cases emerged on Friday, another 152 infections have been diagnosed. The outbreak is believed to have originated in a first certified case in a person returning from Singapore to Putian. Arriving on August 4, the man spent 21 days in quarantine and underwent repeated tests, all of which were negative. However, a further examination carried out last Friday was successful.
