Assassination of the Haitian president: the prosecutor calls for the indictment of Prime Minister Ariel Henry – franceinfo

In Haiti, the chief prosecutor of Port-au-Prince on Tuesday, September 14 asked the judge investigating the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse to indict Prime Minister Ariel Henry, because of phone calls he allegedly had with one of the main suspects in the murder, Joseph Felix Badio.

Bed-Ford Claude, the commissioner of the government of Port-au-Prince – equivalent of the prosecutor – also asked that Ariel Henry be prohibited from leaving Haitian territory “because of the seriousness of the facts exposed”. President Jovenel Moïse was shot dead on July 7 by an armed commando at his home in Port-au-Prince.

Following this threat of indictment, Ariel Henry sacked prosecutor Bed-Ford Claude. “I have the advantage of informing you that it has been decided to terminate your function”, wrote the Prime Minister in a letter made public.
