City of Žilina due to the deteriorating epidemic situation, it cancels several cultural and sporting events that were to take place in the coming days. Since Monday, September 13, the Žilina district in Covid vending machine has been included in the orange phase, which means a degree of vigilance.

“The reason for the measures taken by the municipality is also that with the current setting of preventive measures in the individual phases of the Covid automat, it is not able to ensure their 100% compliance,” said the city’s spokesman Vladimír Miškovčík.

The following events will be canceled:

• Health Day (September 16)
• Žilina is alive (September 24)
• Seniors Festival and Cabbage Day (September 30)
• Day with the city (October 1)
• Running for the little ones (October 1)
• Experience the street differently (September 21)
• Great Autumn Bike Ride (September 22)

The events Mayor’s Drop of Blood and Žilina Swimming Relay scheduled for Thursday, September 16 will not be canceled and will take place.

The deterioration of the position of the Žilina District in Covid vending machine was also caused by the new rules, according to which neighboring districts can be only one degree better than the neighboring riskier district. Since the current week has been the district Bytča reassigned to the 1st threat level, which is signaled in red in the Covid vending machine.

In addition, regional hygienists announce that, while maintaining the current epidemic trend, the recruitment of the Žilina District to the red phase (1st degree of threat) can be expected next week.

The current rules of the Covid slot machine do not favor mass events

According to the currently valid rules, the municipality can organize an event without restrictions exclusively for persons who are fully vaccinated. In the OTP mode, the capacity is up to 1,000 people at an outdoor event and up to 500 indoor participants. In the case of seating, the interior can be filled to 25% of capacity, in the case of outdoor events to 50% of capacity.

When organizing an event in the “base” mode, there can be a maximum of 200 people outdoors and 100 people indoors at one time. In the case of seating, the organizer can use the capacity to 25% in the case of the interior, the exterior can be filled to 50% of the capacity. If the participants stand during the event, there can be 100 of them outdoors and only 50 indoors.

However, the organizer is obliged to provide a list of participants. The listed restrictions are specified by the relevant traffic light and are also determined on the basis of the area of ​​the event.

The Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic informed that in addition to the number of positive cases, when changing the color, the vaccination of the district in the population over 50 years of age is also taken into account. The more vaccinated in this group the district has, the greater the chance that it will move to a better color and despite the greater number of diseases COVID-19 more lenient measures will apply.

The phases of the Covid automat take into account, in addition to the number of cases in seven days per 100,000 inhabitants, a comprehensive assessment of the epidemic situation in the district (trend of disease increase, meeting the minimum number of tests, test positivity .

Since 8 February, the relaxation and tightening of measures has been governed by the Covid automaton, which has introduced five colors of district risk:

• green (monitoring)
• orange (vigilance)
• red (1st threat level)
• burgundy (2nd level of threat)
• black (3rd degree of threat).

As of Monday, September 13, the updated Covid slot machine has been operating, according to which ten districts are red – in the first degree of danger. Another 47 districts are orange – vigilant and the remaining 22 districts remain in the green phase.
