Arrived safely. The 49 French people and their relatives who were stranded in Afghanistan before being evacuated to Qatar arrived on Monday, September 13 “in the early afternoon” to Paris from Doha by “a chartered flight”, announced the Foreign Ministry in a communicated. The Quai d’Orsay thanked Qatar for its “decisive aid”.

The new arrivals were offered “medico-psychological and material support by state services and approved associations”, specifies the press release, which adds that “All of the State’s services remain fully mobilized to ensure, as soon as possible, new evacuations of our compatriots who remain in place, as well as Afghans particularly threatened by their commitments”.

Since August 17, the start of the evacuation operations launched by France after the fall of Kabul into the hands of the Taliban, “more than a hundred French and more than 2,600 Afghans have joined French soil”, declares the Quai d’Orsay. Since the last American soldiers left Kabul at the end of August, the management of the airport has been taken over by Qatar and Turkey, and the first international commercial flight landed there on Monday, one of the signs of normalization of the country after the return to power of the Taliban.
