End of Ouigo between Nancy and Paris: the scathing response of the CEO of the SNCF who assumes – Lorraine Actu

Nancy is not ready to find his Ouigo trains to Paris which must stop running by the end of December 2021. Not profitable enough, under-frequented, according to SNCF, which prefers to focus on its high-end TGVs.

The announcement of the end of the Ouigo caused an uproar among local elected officials and customers which challenge the SNCF since the beginning of September. The annoyance of Nancy residents has been traced to the CEO of the railway company who for the moment remains deaf to the complaints of the Lorrainers.

Questioned by the mayor (PS) of Nancy Mathieu Klein Sunday, September 12, 2021 on RTL, SNCF CEO Jean-Pierre Farandou sent a bloody response.

The mayor of Nancy, who sent a letter to the CEO of the SNCF, recalls that Greater Nancy is “the second urban student area in France with 55,000 students”. He regretted the elimination of night trains in 2016 and the degradation of links to Lyon.

SNCF Voyageurs is ready to go to Nancy to discuss with elected officials, with the Region. There is a complementarity with the TER and TGV. This case is interesting: we are not in the public service: we must not mix everything up, it is SNCF’s own risk. There have been lockdowns and traffic has fallen sharply in Nancy. We adapted the offer, we weren’t going to run empty trains! Otherwise we are told: how do you manage this business? And that’s normal … The famous Ouigo which has been deleted, we replace it with a TGV Inoui. And we can have access to important prices. Frankly, this is the art of raising controversy. No problem to organize a meeting with all the elected officials but that we consider that there is a reform of the SNCF. We are a limited company (SA). We have to pay attention to our outcome. You cannot ask anything and everything from the company.

Arrested by the Communist Party

The CEO of the SNCF has in any case heard of Nancy this weekend. He was also arrested at the Fête de l’Humanité by Bora Yilmaz, PCF municipal councilor in Nancy.

The party launched a petition to demand the cancellation of the deletion of Ouigo. It has already collected 4,200 signatures.
