September 11 attacks: meeting with New York City firefighters – Franceinfo

For Agnès Vahramian, journalist with France Télévisions live from New York (United States), we must take advantage of the commemorations of the September 11 attacks to pay tribute to the firefighters who rescued the victims during this nightmarish day. “Every New York barracks has lost at least one man”, explains the journalist from France Télévisions.
“It was the longest day of my life when it started out as a wonderful Tuesday morning”, testifies Robinson Aupont, a firefighter at the Harlem fire station in New York (United States).

In one of the rooms of this Harlem barracks stand the faces of the 383 firefighters who died in the September 11 attacks. On the walls, a huge fresco pays homage to the two firefighters of the barracks who lost their lives twenty years earlier. “I am so sad to see this mural every day that I work. But at least I think of them”, says Robinson Aupont.
