Hygienists monitor wastewater to estimate the spread coronavirus in the population. Their analysis has shown a significant increase in the recent period.
“In the 35th calendar week, SARS-CoV-2 virus was detected in all samples taken,” pointed out the chief hygienist Ján Mikas.
The largest increase in viral load is observed in the Trenčín Region. There was also an increase in the Bratislava, Prešov and Žilina regions. “In the Košice region, despite the decline, the values are still high. We saw a decrease in the 35th week in the Trnava region,” states Mikas.
Hygiene assessed that the increase was in line with the epidemiological situation. They therefore call on everyone to adhere to epidemiological measures.
“We recommend that people be vaccinated, especially if they have risk factors or live in the same household as people who have risk factors, work or care for such people.” concluded Mikas.
Cases detected from PCR tests have been growing in recent weeks. They revealed 478 of them yesterday, only 178 the same day a week ago. Epidemiologists warnthat the situation will continue to deteriorate.
According to experts, data from wastewater can predict development in the coming weeks and reveal new outbreaks.
