Rebelote for Toulouse and the Haute-Garonne. Thursday September 9, 2021, Meteo France places the Pink City and the Haute-Garonne department in orange vigilance to thunderstorms and floods.

Locally heavy rains

“In the second part of the afternoon, the first thunderstorms broke out over the Pyrenean foothills. They quickly grow and spread throughout the affected area in the early evening. In the form of stormy clusters, this precipitation sometimes takes on a quasi-stationary character, which can generally give 30 to 50 mm or even 70 to 80 mm locally during the episode ”, details Météo France.

This orange vigilance will begin at 2:30 p.m. and will be lifted on Friday September 10 at 3:30 a.m.

Four departments in orange vigilance

In addition to Haute-Garonne, three other departments have been placed in orange vigilance: the Gers, Ariège and Tarn-et-Garonne.

“With regard to the Gers, the eastern part of the department is more particularly affected by this heavy rainfall. Some hailstorms and wind gusts up to 60 to 80 km / h are also possible locally. At the end of the evening, the thunderstorms shift to the east and only concern Haute-Garonne and Ariège, then they completely evacuate the region in the middle of the night, ”explains Météo France.

A month of rain in Toulouse last night

Last night, thunderstorms affected several departments in Occitanie such as Gers, Haute-Garonne and Aude.

The equivalent of a month of precipitation fell in Toulouse. Our neighbors in Agen have been the hardest hit.
