At the same time, Islamists set the conditions for protests in the future. The organizers must obtain the prior consent of the Ministry of Justice and other bodies. In addition, the reason for the demonstration, its place and time, and the slogans to be used must be notified to the authorities at least 24 hours before the event.

The Taliban has used violence in recent days to suppress demonstrations, the DPA said. The largest local television stations have apparently stopped reporting on the protests in Kabul, which took place over several days. Women and men took to the streets in the capital and in several provinces for women’s rights and freedom.

They detained five journalists

The Afghan militant Taliban briefly detained five journalists from Kabul’s investigative newspaper Etilaatroz on Wednesday. The publisher said militants detained a journalist who was covering the protest in the western part of the capital Kabul. Three others, including the editor-in-chief, were later detained by the Taliban elsewhere in the city. The newspaper later announced the arrest of a fifth journalist.
