Presidential 2022: Marine Le Pen borrows its slogan from the Marseillaise – LCI

Campaign slogans are already starting to flourish, seven months before the presidential election. After the “Remontada” of the former minister Arnaud Montebourg, it is the turn of Marine Le Pen to unveil, Sunday, September 12, the formula which will set the tone of his campaign.

According to information from the TF1 / LCI political service, “Cherished Freedoms” is the formula chosen by the RN candidate for her big back-to-school meeting, Sunday morning in Fréjus (Var), before her interview scheduled for Sunday evening at 8 p.m. on TF1. If these words sound familiar to you, it’s simply because the RN campaign team borrowed them from the Marseillaise.

More precisely, in the 6th verse of the Marseillaise, of which here is a part: “Sacred love of the Fatherland / Lead, support our avenging arms! / Freedom! Cherished freedom / Fight with your defenders”.

To note that “Freedom Darling” also appears in the Chant des deportés, or Chant des marais, an adaptation of a song composed before the Second World War by communist prisoners in Germany, and subsequently repeated by the French paratroopers and the Foreign Legion.

It also constituted the title from a book by the former resistance fighter then Minister Pierre Mendès-France, written in 1942 while the latter was engaged in the Free French Air Forces, against Nazi Germany.

If it is, his entourage tells us, more of a pre-campaign theme than a campaign itself, this slogan will draw the common thread of the candidate for the months to come.

Marine Le Pen will decline in her speech freedom “concerning work, sovereignty, identity”, indicates his team. In support of this, a new poster campaign will be launched around this back-to-school weekend.

In addition, if the campaign team has not yet been formalized, we already know that the MEP Jean-Paul Garraud, former head of the regional list in Occitanie, is appointed president of the financing association of the campaign. This former defector from LR will be responsible for monitoring the regularity of the accounts.
