Carrefour is launching its 2021 return to school. As of September 20, 2021, the French juggernaut is setting up a monthly subscription system “Carrefour +” at 5.99 euros to benefit from a 15% reduction during the checkout, and this without minimum purchase.
A first for the brand, therefore, with one particularity: this experiment will initially concern only the stores of Rouen (Seine-Maritime) and its agglomeration. This offer will apply to all brands, Carrefour hypermarkets, via Carrefour City and Carrefour Express… not to mention Drives.
Not all products are affected by the discount. In fact, it will only be valid for 20 brands of Carrefour distributors, ie more than 7,000 products.
The 21 stores concerned
Carrefour Barentin, Carrefour Mont Saint Aignan, Carrefour Tourville La Rivière, Carrefour Market Bois-Guillaume Les Bocquets, Carrefour Market Bois-Guillaume Mairie, Carrefour Market Le Petit-Quevilly Jaurès, Carrefour Market Sotteville-Lès-Rouen, Carrefour Market Bihorel, Carrefour Market Déville-Lès-Rouen, Carrefour Market Mesnil-Esnard and their Drive, Carrefour City Bois Guillaume, Carrefour City Rouen Caen, City Rouen Docks 76, Carrefour City Rouen Grand Pont, Carrefour City Rouen Pasteur, City Rouen Place des Carmes, Carrefour City Rouen Saint-Hilaire, Carrefour City Rouen Saint Julien, Carrefour City Sotteville-Lès-Rouen. Carrefour Express Rouen Jeanne d’Arc, Carrefour Express Rouen République.
Only the drugstore, perfume and hygiene departments, as well as the food departments (fresh, such as butcher’s, charcuterie, bakery, pastry, caterer, etc.) will also be included in the subscription. The offer does not apply to the drugstore either. Please note that the reductions will be cumulative with other promotions already in effect.
To win the loyalty of customers
“This subscription system will be reserved for holders of the Carrefour loyalty card”, specifies the brand, in a press release published on September 8, 2021. “This subscription service is fully in line with two strategic priorities: to promote our ecosystem, by offering our customers everywhere the same advantages, particularly in digital terms, and the food transition for all thanks to a very advantageous offer on Carrefour’s own brands ”, adds Morgane Weill, executive director of group strategy and France and market France.
With this new back-to-school offer, Carrefour’s objective seems clear: to build customer loyalty and encourage them to adopt a routine of consumption.
Already in place at Casino and Monoprix
The Carrefour brand is not the first to use this monthly subscription system. In 2019, the giant Casino unsheathed its Casino Max Extra offer, with a monthly subscription of 10 euros, offering an immediate 10% discount.
At the end of August 2021, a few days before Carrefour’s announcement, it was Monoprix’s turn to launch “Monopflix”, which offers the same reduction, for 9.90 euros / month, with the added bonus of free delivery from 50 euros purchase. Who says better ?
