The Order of Physicians requests that health professionals now have access to the vaccine booster against Covid-19.
Faced with the risk of reduced efficacy of vaccines beyond six months after the complete vaccination schedule, in particular against the Delta variant, “it is now necessary to allow the most exposed and vulnerable groups to have access to a vaccination booster“, explains the Order of Physicians in a press release released Tuesday.
The vaccine booster (3rd dose for mRNA vaccines for example) currently concerns the over 65s, patients at “very high risk” of severe forms, severely immunocompromised and people who have received a dose of Janssen vaccine. .
The body asks that health professionals “be considered a priority for access to this booster, as they were at the start of the vaccination campaign, to protect themselves and their patients.”
“This public health need must be integrated into the reflections and opinions of the Haute Autorité de Santé and the vaccination taskforce, and implemented without delay by the Government “, asks the Order.
For the instance, this reminder will allow, as part of the national vaccination campaign, to “continue the work of conviction through the exemplary nature of professionals“.
